Well, here he goes again. On Monday, Paxton announced he was launching a deceptive trade investigation into three big pharmaceutical firms that produce COVID-19 vaccines. Paxton, of course, has a long history of opposition to the vaccines.
Our state’s top attorney says he “is committed to discovering the full scope of decision-making behind pandemic interventions forced on the public” by the federal government. It’s not that we don’t think Paxton can and should bring big civil suits against companies, even drug companies, that harm Texans. His office laudablyagainst Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd. after arguing the generic-drug maker improperly marketed highly addictive opioid painkillers. The settlement netted the state $150 million in cash payments over 15 years and $75 million worth of Narcan, the overdose remedy drug.
