A teenage couple is facing charges for brining a firearm onto school campus Friday.

A teenage couple was arrested on felony charges for bringing a rifle on a school campus, court documents state.

Raphael Ortega, 19, visited his girlfriend, Cesar Chavez High School student Valerie Rodriguez, 18, at the school's campus Friday with a rifle in his backpack. Ortega is not a student. Rodriguez was referred in court documents as both his girlfriend and wife. A marriage license for the two was listed on the Harris County Clerk website.

Surveillance showed both in the library with the backpack during school hours, but Ortega left, leaving it alone with Rodriguez.A school official asked to see what was inside the bag because it had an odd shape, but the couple protested, according to court documents. Ortega eventually confessed there was a gun in the bag.Ortega’s bond was set at $200,000 and Rodriguez’s bond was set at $50,000.
