Breaking: The sister-in-law of a Liberal cabinet minister has stepped down as the interim ethics commissioner a day after a House of Commons committee agreed to investigate her appointment.

OTTAWA — The sister-in-law of a Liberal cabinet minister has stepped down as the interim ethics commissioner a day after a House of Commons committee agreed to investigate her appointment.

Martine Richard, who has worked in the commissioner’s office as a lawyer since 2013, took over the top job last month for a six-month stint. Richard is the sister-in-law of Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc, who was found to have breached conflict-of-interest rules in 2018 for approving a lucrative fishing licence for a family member while he was fisheries minister.

A statement from the office of the conflict of interest and ethics commissioner says Richard will stay on as a lawyer while the search for a new leader continues. On Tuesday, the committee on access to information, privacy and ethics agreed to study Richard’s appointment over the course of three hearings, and to invite her and LeBlanc to testify.

Trudeau has always been an entitled corrupt arrogant prick!!!!

May have been the most qualified. We’ll never know as she was unwilling to endure the barking dog show - don’t blame her. The PCs are so incredibly divisive.

Urgent assistance is required from Canadian news outlets, such as MSNca and , to shed light on the ongoing IranChemicalAttacks targeting schoolgirls, which have been occurring for several months now and have impacted over 30,000 innocent students. IRGCterrorists

A government unwilling to address ethical conflicts is no government at all.

You forgot “and we at the are devastated”.

As she should

She'll make more in the public sector. Why anyone with any competency, would ever want to go enter elected life or (much of the) public service is really questionable.🤯

Staying with their quota of a scandal a week.

NotaliaMateo She must have had some ethics unlike the government.

Governments employee always like to hire their relatives. High pay, job for life, low work load, great benefits, always on strike. Free money from taxpayers.

A few former board members of the Trudeau foundation just became available for the job?

Are there any honest politicians

Oh how the Toronto Star so called journalists must be weeping.

Job Ad: Wanted. Liberal connected friend for a very well paid job to help clear Trudeau and his ministers of past and any future conflicts of interest. Only those close to the PMO need apply.

Yikes. The Libs really are an unscrupulous bunch.

Wait until the public finds out who Dr. Tams's husband is and how much money our Gov has given his companies and why they do. Who is Dr. Tams husband and why all the secrecy? Any day now!

Everything in this Government smells bad.

LOL 👀

Well at least she showed some integrity!

djbip1986 Wow. You think?

Nah, let’s let the committee still investigate,

Nothing to see here… Move along ….

I thought there wasn't a problem ?
