Mr Burke himself had refused to engage with his own inquiry and had constantly repeated the “mantra” the inquiry was not being conducted in accordance with law and the Constitution. Mr Burke had been described as “highly aggressive” and “abusive” towards gardaí, to have made “obscene” statements about “transgenderism” and to have been “totally frantic” when a garda was attempting to handcuff him.

His parents, sister Ammi and brothers Isaac and Josiah, who were in court earlier, had absented themselves deliberately for the ruling, the judge was told. When the inquiry resumed just after 10.40am on Friday, Ammi Burke made submissions for some two and a half hours arguing it was not being run as required by the Constitution.

When the judge asked Simeon Burke about his position, Mr Burke said the Article 40 procedure was laid down under the Constitution and the judge’s duty was to follow it.

FFS just treat him like someone who's had a few drinks too many on a Saturday night and committs a Public Order charge. Fine him. Stop giving him publicity. Just give him a tiny article in the local media in Mayo. 'Castlebar man up on Public Order Charge'. Media are feeding them.

In summary, Enoch passed up on the opportunity to cross examine witnesses and now Simeon follows suit. Is this basket case really a prospective barrister? Methinks that he needs to watch some old episodes of Crown Court, or rent out Anatomy of a Murder to see how courts work.

A lot of effort being wasted on treating this fool with kid gloves in order to maintain a simple matter of public order.

Much ado about very, very little. Lots of Court time used up. A waste of time and judicial resources.
