A fire that officials believe started in a garage spread to a second-floor living space in a Chula Vista home on Wednesday morning, displacing a family, fire officials said. When firefighters arrived, the garage was “fully involved” and a vehicle parked in the driveway of the home was also on fire, said Fire Capt. Josh Sanders. It took crews less than 20 minutes to knock down the flames. Firefighters remained on scene for about an hour, he said.
It was unclear if there had been a vehicle in the garage when the fire began because it was hard to make out individual items in the charred debris, officials said. One resident was treated at the scene but no one was hospitalized, Battalion Chief David Albright told OnScene TV.
