The Centre for Democracy and Socio-Economic Rights (CEDSER) has asked Abiodun Oyebanji, governor of Ekiti, and the inspector general of police (IGP) to investigate a large-scale land-grabbing allegation in Itapaji-Ekiti,

In the petition, the group alleged that some land grabbers invaded several acres of land belonging to over 10,000 residents in Itapaji without their consent and that of the traditional institution in the community.

“The grabbers invaded Itapaji, one of the most fertile soils in the Northern fringe of Ekiti where they are currently bulldozing several acres of land without the free, prior, and informed consent of the owners of the land and the traditional institution in the community,” the petition reads.
