In the letter addressed to the Chief Clerk, the Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, in London, the former President asked the Clerk to intervene and ensure the UK government tempered justice with mercy on the matter.reports that Ekweremadu is at risk of being sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 of the United Kingdom after a London court found him and his wife guilty of organ trafficking.
I am Olusegun Obasanjo, a soldier commissioned into the British Army of the West African Frontier Force in 1958, and rose to the rank of a full General in the Nigerian Army. I received the surrender of the Biafran Army at the end of the Nigerian civil war. I was military Head of State from 1976 to 1979 and elected President from 1999 to 2007.
It is with great pleasure that I write in respect of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who I have known for over two decades. Within this period, I have followed and watched, with keen interest, Ike Ekweremadu’s inspiring career which traversed private legal practice and public administration. I recall, with fond memories, the beginnings of our political and social relationship at the outset of our collective quest for democratic rebirth for our fatherland.
ECOWAS, and made to lead ad hoc Committee to work for the return of constitutional order in the Niger Republic. I clearly remember that in the heady days of the keen contest for the presidential ticket of our Party in early 1999, he joined other well-meaning Nigerians from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria to set aside extraneous considerations and ensured that South East unanimously adopted me for the Presidency. This was without regard to the fact that my closest competitor hailed from their part of the country.

May God touch their hearts and grant Ekweremadu liniency. At least, he must have learnt his lessons.
Such a fatherly leadership.. When you have a voice..lend it. Thank you Baba..I hope these crop of politicians learns a lesson from this.
Baba Obasanjo why are you disgracing your old age to tarnish your reputation of youthful age. Are you saying that you have done similar things that Ekeremadu did to innocent Nigerians and the law did get you?.this is bad of you baba.
Thank you sir
Nothing is too big or too little to do to help the family. It could happen to anyone and you won't be able to think straight no matter your status or level.
Always trying to subvert justice. Obj na General(in Prison break). He wan break out all inmates, assemble them against 2027 elections.
That is what friends do... Stay by and stay for each other in times of trouble... OBJ you are a good friend... You are the MAN
Elder states man
When you see a through leader you would know.. Had it been he's a northerner I believe buhari would have intervene on the matter before now.. Buh God dey...
Am beginning to see President Oolusegun_obj from another angle now. This man has shown that he is truly a good leader irrespective of tribe and religion. Thanks for your compassion, care n concern for Nigeria n it's citizens at large. God bless you immensely 🙏🙏
OBJ who send you? Allow that afo anu to rot in prison for the rest of his life An average of 20 people die annually on roads and other federal projects he is being allocated funds to fix in Enugu but the werey will squeeze everything into his pockets now you want us to pity him
Ekweremmadu should face the law squarely, if not for his foolish act of abandoning the young boy in the street of UK no one would have heard of this case, but his wickedness to the poor boy found him out. The boy would not have gone to the police to report his situation.
Obasanjo is a great leader
The side of the complainant is not an issue in his letter, Ekweremadu had the opportunity to put things right in his country, but chose otherwise. God can't be deceived, it's a lesson for all. British Government cares about life, how he illegally went about it is their problem.
I keep wondering the insane level of hypocrisy of this man. If not for the intelligence, intervention of the British Government, Ekweremadu and his wife would have selfishly wasted the life of the young person they sought to harvest his kidney for their own child.
OBJ is a born leader. Some na thug breader
A father
They both part of the problem that made him being in this position today. If they build one good hospital with the same capacity of the once they went abroad to use. It won’t like this for him in the first place. Same on all of them.
UBACares pay me my money.
World respected Leader
Real definition of “I can only try, I cannot finish it” at least he tried.
Obj always rises to the occasion; atypical of Nigerian leaders. Whether he succeeds or not, history will record that he tried. How I wish Obj's life can be extended to 150years for the sake of a better Nigeria.
