The Liberal Party have failed to make a strong 'No' case against the Voice to Parliament and should have acted from day one instead of “quibbling” about the wording of the Voice question, says UQ's Garrick Professor of Law James Allan.

The Liberal Party have failed to make a strong ‘No’ case against the Voice to Parliament and should have acted from day one instead of “quibbling” about the wording of the Voice question, says UQ’s Garrick Professor of Law James Allan.

“If someone had come out on day one and said ‘it’s antithetical to live in a Liberal democracy where you put people into groups and you give people different rights depending on which group they’re in – call it race, call it historical standards, call it whatever you want’ – that has never worked well in any country ever,” Prof Allan told Sky News Australia.

“The problem is that no one is actually in the Liberal Party … making the case – they’ve been sort of been playing cutesy and quibbling about the actual wording.”

I'm pretty sure they know what's going on, they have said they are willing to look at other ideas that aren't rushed but their not going to go off half cocked and let's face it AlboMP is RUSHING this through to make a name like Bob's claim that no child will be living in poverty

There is only one Voice worth listening to.

We one country one people

What do your remaining handful of viewers think? As a former regular viewer, I don’t care what one professor thinks. What was the legal advice given to the gov? Why did Labor ignore that advice? Don’t know, VoteNOAustralia

Peter Dutton is striving for the most disingenuous speech in Australian history today. For a start, there is ALREADY a Voice in South Australia. Did the sky fall in, auspol? Was the system of government changed forever? Are people fleeing over borders in fear? Van Badham

Piss weak! That’s the liberal party! A boat without a rudder goes nowhere.

Agree , James Allen ,well said . ! ---- Its taken years , for AUSTRALIANS , ,, to come together , &. We Are ! ! ! the Voice ,,,,,, Will BLOW ,,,,us ::::::APART. .....

Can't imagine a more fitting end to Dutto's career than 'stands against indigenous support, refuses to elaborate why, fails miserably'. That's peak Dutton brain. Knuckle draggers will claim majority, like they did the past 5 votes they weren't the majority in. It's a cycle now.

Peta Credlin stands firmly behind Peter Dutton?

Who cares what that uq guy says. Sensible, logical people will VoteNo

Dutton played it well, it's Albanese who refuse to answer questions or debate is the reason the voice will fail

Better late than never I guess

Vote no 💯 how does that poll with you hacks
