Every one of us have beliefs and values. I live in a Canada where you can be different from each other and I am not threatened by anyone who wants to align their job with their beliefs. Our diverse fabric is what makes Canada strong and the envy of many countries.

“And it ignores the very real feelings of judgment, shame and stigma that patients experience when their physicians fail to provide the individualized care a patient seeks.' This is what those few special interest groups (mainly religious) just do not get.

As a Muslim woman and physician in 🇨🇦 I have PERSONAL beliefs about many healthcare topics that may not align with mainstream. Those will NEVER stop me from getting my patient the help/support they need e.g MAID or abortion care. I have DUTY to refer them to the right person

That's a really vague statement. What referrals? What beliefs? What service do they not wish to provide?

Embarrassing to our profession and to our commitment to all patients. This represents a minuscule number of Ontario doctors.

too damn bad.

Omg dr are so crazy today, 2nd back fusion next week, Resp just called to cancel no idea when it be rebooked

I don't go to a doctor for their religious guidance. I go for the best medical advice. Any doc that hinders someone's health because they believe in the boogy man and his buy-bull should be stripped of their license. Period!

They don’t technically have to refer you! All they need to do is sign your medical release form. Do some homework and find A cannabis doctor/clinic, get the release form and bring it to your doctor. He is obliged to sign it. And that is not a referral!

If their religious beliefs hinder their ability to do the job fully, they shouldn’t be in the job. Patients aren’t seeking religious advice when they’re going to see a doctor.

Its not fair to us deaf, when they refused to provide interpreters. I have fighting 311 toronto (311 ignored my requests, they can be charged for this, they will be held liable). My legs/feet may be recovering, but the pain do exist, especially the stairs. They are still swollen

You are practicing medicine in Canada, not the Vatican. If you cannot provide services deemed part of what we deliver in this country and are unwilling to refer for those you do not provide yourself, perhaps find another career in a religious setting.

I don't want a religious nut operating on me one day just because the medical field bent backwards for religion. Your 'beliefs' don't supercede my life!

I'd say their beliefs should not interfere with their professional practice code of ethics! They might want to think about that! They have to uphold an oath - medical oath!

All woman have the right for on demand abortions.

Well that was a waste of med school applicants.....I’d prefer doctors who understand the needs of their patients. There is no room for judgement in health care. pharmacist

If a doctor doesn’t explore ALL options then they shouldn’t be doctors.

Religion sucks. Keep it out of the public domain...

I work in the medical field and I don't agree with this. A doctor promises to provide medical care..period. Their personal beliefs shouldn't come in to it.

And how is it fair that their superstitions are the basis for the treatment they are willing to offer their clients?

RNs take care of all patients regardless of their race, religion or beliefs which may differ or clash with theirs. People have the right to make their own choices, don’t try to take that away from them.

Tough. This USA fundy garbage has no place in Canada. If you want to be paid as a doctor, leave your fairytales at home and do your job.

Doctors take an oath that says saving lives comes before political beliefs. Name these doctors so we can file a complaint against them. They shouldn’t be practicing medicine in this country.

Then they should move to Kentucky or someplace like that

Ontario doctors say it’s FAIR to refuse referrals for medical services because they’re closed minded to other people’s beliefs.

I heard a story once. Maybe true, maybe not. A young adult in medical school is listening to a lecture about dealing with trans/non-binary type people in a medical setting. Student: 'What if I'm not comfortable treating people like that?' Teacher: 'Find another profession.'

Find a new profession. Pretty simple.

Science based education shown to be of no value by bigoted doctors.. Dont wanna treat all equally? Be a vet, you can choose your species.

Then go become priests or pastors, you're not fit to practice medicine in the community.

The endocannabinoid system is a human body function that is inheritablely a medical issue regardless if medical school teaches it or not, Doctor should by law have to Also stop giving CBD only to cancer patients Search Utube if you don't understand

Although I would like for everyone participate in inclusiveness, understanding, the fact is that forcing someone to do something against their will or beliefs mean trampling their rights as well. This tells me we still are not learning to tolerate peoples beliefs and freedoms.

No doctor in Ontario should try to restrict access to medical care.

I'm not sympathetic to them at all. My health care is my choice. Health care providers need to be neutral and acting for the patient not themselves.

Keep religion out of health

Its called having a job. Sucks i know.

Excuse me

Bunk. Some people should not get a lower standard of care because they are stuck with a closed-minded GP with regressive personal views. If you're so pig-headed about your values that you can't stand seeing someone else live a different life, find another profession.

They are obliged to do no harm. Government can not mandate that they become executioners.

Tough shit, being a doctor means you work for the patients, not your beliefs, if it interferes, change careers.

Doctors take an oath. If they don't value that oath, then they should leave medicine. It is that simple. All legal medical options should be on the table when working with patients, regardless of personal beliefs.

Maybe they should have become priests instead of doctors if their beliefs come first and people 2nd.Or go work in a country that allows them to be as discriminatory as they wanna be & put themselves first, there is one close by.

Then quit!

Blame it on jihad Justin country...

If I took my personal beliefs to work nothing would get built .... there is a difference between religious beliefs and not inflicting harm

What happened to the HippocraticOath ?

Well allowing it to be irradiated and PALMOIL is toxic, they r undermining the benefits of medical marijuana. When is someone going to out this truth, it was told to me by my ex LP.

Get over yourself and do your job.

U can’t force your beliefs on patients. Just refer them on . Everyone will be happier

Personal morals & beliefs have no place in the medical like a combat medic they don't judge they save lives without the Mickey mouse bullcrap!!.

Forcing referrals is same as Nazis did.

JungleStrikeGuy It is unprofessional for physicians to base healthcare decisions and reccomendations on anything but medical science. Their own personal belief systems are not relevant.

Look, if a patient requires a service, provide it.

My personal beliefs are that conservatives are distructive idiots. I still provide the best service I can for them. Should I start providing my services only based on my faith?

Unfair? They don’t have to do anything other than send someone away when they don’t have the same beliefs. Easier job than most have

Your beliefs are irrelevant next to science. Religious and Cultural beliefs have no place in medicine. Diversity in this case is NOT our strength. Practice medicine based on factual science and leave your beliefs at home. Can't do that? You have no business being a doctor.

I think it’s unfair for a doctor to decide what treatment is right for me based on their beliefs. I want my treatment to be based on science and the law.

Whatever became of 'first, do no harm'? By refusing a referral because of personal (non-medical) beliefs, the doctor is causing harm to the patient.

Find another line work. 😏

Doctors rights? They get paid to do what they do by the government. So the people are the ones with rights that should be respected. This is backwards to say the least. If the courts change their ruling I hope the college of physicians and surgeons puts their own rule in place.

My doc to medical cannabis “I know nothing about it, nor do I want to know”. After 5 years of no pain relief, she said “Keep taking Tylenol & physio for your back” 🤔

Don't be a doctor then

I understand not compelling a doctor to perform a service that goes against their beliefs. I don't understand not compelling them to provide a referral to a doctor who doesn't have that issue.

Does referring me to an endocrinologist when my hypothyroidism is causing debilitating fatigue and interfering with my productivity clash with their beliefs? Because a doctor in Etobicoke refused to when my hypothyroidism was spiraling out of control.

I agree 1000 percent. It is against my religious beliefs to pay for doctors who would put their ideology ahead of patient health or Faith ahead of science. So please revoke their license and send them to some place where they can practice witchdoctory. Doctors give information

I’m amazed with what doctors have to see that they could be religious at all.

The desire of some people to enforce their values on others knows no bounds.

This is so true !!!!!!

Then they should not have gone into medicine!

Boo fuckin hoo then don’t be a doctor

No! Not here. The only belief that they should have is to do no harm/increase health/cure disease.. It’s not about them. What they believe or think is irrelevant.

Is this fake or is this real?

It’s there fucking job

Medicine and religion should not mix. They are two separate entities.

Then maybe they should have become doctors who take the hypcratic oath

Doctors have long fallen off the high tower pedestal they put themselves on years ago. Now they're just part of the rather scummy business of health care taking substantial kick backs from big pharma and peddling both unnecessary & highly addictive drugs on unsuspecting people.

Then get another job, your a Doctor you should serve all.

It’s concerning that “professional” groups of physicians practicing “Christian” medicine. I support referrals. Withholding a referral is unethical

Tax all religion NOW! Before it's too late.

So their religious beliefs supersede their hippocratic oath.

What are their beliefs concerning Oxy's?

Well than sweetie your in the wrong career.

Science matters, not religion.

My doctor told me not to do Rick Simpson Oil as it wouldn't help me. Well 2 mths later when he told me that the RSO had killed the tumor that was left behind after surgery he took his words back! Cannabis kills cancer and many doctors know it.

The culture of offering non life saving treatments when life saving interventions are available, but not offered; & out right telling the patient they're better of being put down, killed, by the government has to stop. A psychiatrist should be consulted when the outcome is death

“Do no harm” is a Drs oath. In Canada a patient has rights and their rights include the best possible health care

As a doctor your first responsibility is the patient.

Ohhhhhh now it all makes sense..... The group includes Christian Medical and Dental Society of Canada, the Canadian Federation of Catholic Physicians' Societies and Canadian Physicians for Life. So because their God doesn't 'agree' people are forced to suffer. Great logic.

So a Jehovahs Witness doc could withhold a blood transfusion?

I don't think doctors should bring their idiotic religious beliefs into a medical office.

Just wait until we start seeing women that cannot enter a Dr’s office or the bank or go out in public without a male guardian. Will that be ok too?

Science is more important than their religious beliefs..

What if teachers insisted on teaching their religion to children since their beliefs require them to spread the gospel. Or how about the garbage man who won’t handle wine bottles because his religion prevents drinking. It’s your job!!!

As in Medically Assisted Death?

Yeah that’s just so ridiculous I mean we all have the same human body these beliefs just interrupt time just get on with it people

It would be completely unfair if someone's personal belief impacted the health of a patient.

Did they become doctors to practice medicine or religion? There’s a difference.

it's not.

If their beliefs clash with their job then they should have chosen a different job no?

Here we go again ! CTV is at it again ! Promoting alt right Trump agenda Doug Ford coronation stories. What about Hindu vegetarian doctors ? They allowed not to refer for vaccinations because of non vegetarian component? Muslim or atheist doctors. What about their feelings !

I would not ever trust a doctor who doesn't explore ALL available treatment options. If you can't separate your personal beliefs from practicing medicine you don't get to practice medicine.

I always thought Doctors were to help anyone who needed it without Prejudice?!!

No. It isn’t.

It would be nonsensical to allow physicians to impose their religious beliefs on patients. Patients should not be forced to suffer govenrment funded religious oppression in Canada.

Doctors are publicly fubded employees so you do what you’re told.

They know the damage when they are being forced to give hormone changing drugs to children.

You don’t have a personal opinion when you are doing your job!!!!

It is quite literally their job to provide medical services and referrals regardless of their personal beliefs.

no it’s not, that’s literally your job

Whiners are going to whine

Guys, you like your government-funded medicine. Well, it's a package deal.

Yes, like abortion or euthanasia

Congo court poised to rule on presidential vote challengeCongo's constitutional court is poised to rule as early as Friday on a challenge to the presidential election results. But the African Union continental body has issued a surprise last-minute request for Congo's government to suspend the announcement of final results, citing 'serious doubts' about the vote. As far as I know Congo's neighboring territories are the ones causing most of the instability in the Congo. They attack the people so much for the minerals they have created the city of joy.
