IPOH: The Federal Court's dismissal of Datuk Seri Najib Razak's application for leave to review his conviction and sentence in the SRC international case should be respected, says Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid.

"It has been decided by the court, so just let it be," the Deputy Prime Minister told reporters at the Santunan Kasih Ramadan programme at Sekolah Izzudin Shah here on Friday .

Earlier, in a majority four-to-one decision read out by Justice Vernon Ong Lam Kiat, the panel of judges found no biasness or breach of natural justice had occurred in the hearing of Najib's final appeal before a different panel in August, last year. Last August, a panel of five judges chaired by Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat presided over Najib's final appeal.

They affirmed and upheld his conviction and sentence by the High Court, which sentenced the former premier to 12 years' jail, and a fine of RM210mil for misappropriation of RM42mil in SRC International funds. Najib then filed for leave to review his conviction and sentence, claiming there was a miscarriage of justice.
