Change of wording to constitutional amendment increases parliament’s power over the advisory body amid concerns about its authority

Constitutional experts have backed the proposed Indigenous voice as a “safe and sensible” legal option, dismissing concerns that the advisory body would be too powerful.

The latest version states parliament will “have power to make laws with respect to matters relating to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice, including its composition, functions, powers and procedures.” Asmi Wood, a constitutional professor at the Australian National University, is also on the government’s expert legal group. He backed the change to the amendment.

The court already strikes down decisions for ‘insufficient consultation’, so court intervention is guaranteed whenever the Voice don’t get what they want. A nightmare for any future government and the country, but lawyers will be able to buy that holiday home and second Porsche.

He he, support is falling for apartheid. Pull out the ‘safe and effective’ argument! Not even once comrade.

It’s apartheid and a gravy train for inner city grifters

I think I’ll stick with my intention to vote no

Some experts say yes and some experts say no. Who knows who or what to believe. Better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully it will all be over soon.

No, they don’t say that.

The Voice Plan, Who knows, Albo won’t give us all the details. Indigenous job quotas 10% including judges, magistrates Etc.

Some other lawyers disagree and think the VoiceToParliament will certainly face legal challenges. And when lawyers can't agree it goes to court in costly and drawn out legal battles. Checkmate. Australia would be CRAZY to vote yes. Sorry. auspol auspol2023

Indigenous voice to parliament referendum question and constitution changes revealed by emotional PMLegislation to be introduced to parliament next Thursday and sent to parliamentary committee for inquiry It seems giving aboriginals a “voice” scares people? The Voice, does not in any way supplant parliament as a decision-making body. It would only provide independent advice on issues that affected Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
