Police commands in the states and other security agencies told The PUNCH on Thursday that the suspects would face trial after investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Frank Mba disclosed on Thursday that 30 persons were arrested for allegedly engaging in electoral violence and vote-buying during Saturday’s governorship election in the state. Mba said, “A total of 30 persons were arrested for various offences, ranging from unlawful possession of weapons to disorderly behaviour around polling units, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and also for offences relating to undue influence and attempt to indulge in vote-buying.
Mba noted, “Investigations are ongoing and as we promised on the day of the election, we will continue to keep citizens updated as we make progress with these cases, but you can trust us that we will certainly and surely do a good job.
