The Kaduna State government has denied that less than 12 hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the All Progressives Congress winner in last Saturday’s governorship election, the state government declared a 24-hour curfew in Jema’a and Kaura local councils with immediate effect.
Unverified sources has reported that the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement, announced the imposition of the curfew in those councils to enable security agencies stabilise security situation in those areas, save life and property, as well as restore law and order.
Aruwan was quoted to have said: “Security agencies have full authorisation to enforce the curfew. Government appeals to all residents of Jema’a and Kaura councils to cooperate with security agencies in the task of restoring peace, and upholding law and order.However, denying the rumour, Aruwan said: “I made no statement declaring curfew in Kaura and Jama’a councils. It is fake news, please.”
