March 20, 2023The International Press Centre has condemned the attacks on journalists and other media professionals who covered Saturday's governorship and State Assembly elections.This was contained in a statement signed by the Press Freedom and Safety Alert Desk Officer of IPC, Melody Lawal, which noted that the incidents constitute a violation of the fundamental rights of the affected journalists and media workers and a major assault on press freedom.
Lawal charged security agencies to thoroughly investigate the various attacks and ensure that the perpetrators face the consequences of their actions.
