The bill sponsored by Republican Rep. Stan McClain would restrict public school instruction on human sexuality, sexually transmitted diseases and related topics to grades 6 through 12. McClain confirmed at a recent committee meeting that discussions about menstrual cycles would also be restricted to those grades.
McClain said the bill's intent is to bring uniformity to sex education across all of Florida's 67 school districts and provide more pathways for parents to object to books or other materials they find inappropriate for younger children.
This is getting ridiculous! Young girls that start their periods at school need someone to talk to.

Enough is enough--STOP the gestapo tactics!! For many young girls on 4th grade and up, school will be the ONLY place they'll hear about how to deal with their period. Would we rather they just find out when they find a red wet spot on their pants?!

This is a normal part of puberty for biological females. It's important to give our kids the info they need to understand what is happening to their bodies. Some girls will experience menstruation at 8 or 9 years of age.

This is the worse idea ever. girls should learn about this in 3rd grade, at least, to prepare them. Sounds like this man wants them to be ignorant so it's easier to get them pregnant younger, so they'll be less likely to go to college and be financially independent.

Menstrual cycle education and sexuality shouldn’t even be in the same sentence. We always had education in the 5-6th grades in school about how our bodies change.
How is discussing menstruation considered a 'sexuality' topic. It's an aspect of health that half the population deal with, and there's already too much stigma about it. It's not uncommon for for menarche to arrive as young as 8 or 9. Gods forbid the youth are educated, I guess?
