The governments of the Philippines and Japan should apologize for violating the rights of Filipino women who were sexually abused by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II, the Gabriela Women’s Party said. READ:

Gabriela’s call came in light of the landmark ruling of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women , which found that the Philippines failed to provide Filipino comfort women with “repatriation, social support and recognition commensurate with the harm suffered.

“This decision is a ray of hope for our ‘lolas’ as this serves as an impetus to push for concrete actions from the government,” it said in a statement.

UN: PH violated rights of WWII sexual slavery victims by Japanese ArmyThe UN women's rights committee has found that the Philippines violated the rights of sexual slavery victims of the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II 'by failing to provide reparation, social support, and recognition' to the harm suffered. The UN wants us to immortalize the atrocities of the Japanese Imperial Army just like what they're doing to Nazi Germany despite the fact that they're all dead and the current Japanese Government is innocent or had nothing to do with it. This is an obvious political manipulation. PH case is just like SK case. Japan paid d GOVT. It's up to d GOVT to pay individual citizen. Japan provided SK w/ $300M grant in economic aid, $200M in loans together w/ $300M private loan trust fund, a total of $800M in 1965. 800M in 1965 is about $11B today. I have no PH info
