Robert Lloyd Schellenberg’s case has been the focus of international scrutiny after Western legal experts and his family argued that China was using him as a bargaining chip in its efforts to free Meng Wanzhou, an executive of tech giant Huawei. Meng is currently held by Canada at the request of the United States, which […]

222 KG drug! It could destroy many families! Why being a drug dealer in a country which has zero tolerance to drug?

Vindicate me, O God, And plead my cause against an ungodly nation; Oh, deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man! Psalm 43:1

FYI: Examples of foreign drug dealers executed in China: 1) Akmal Shaikh, British, sentenced in Sept. 2009, executed swiftly in Dec. 2009, (Guess the Canadian, Mr. Schellenberg, won't have to wait too long for his execution); 2) A Japanese 2004; 3) A Pilipino woman, 2011.

If ur going to a foreign land then follow their rules if not then ur wholly responsible for repercussions

We can all BoycottChina on the purchase of any Chinese made products. We can also BoycottChina by not booking any trips to China. Canada could impose larger taxes on any purchases by Chinese citizens, and increase non resident withholding tax on sales to 50%.

If he was smuggling drugs he deserves it. If he wasn’t that sucks.

Not that I believe in capital punishment, but I would entertain a conversation from someone that is when it comes to horrendously evil crimes & people like serial killers & child killers. But any country that executes someone for drug smuggling is both unevolved and uncivilized

Sentence a drug trafficker to death triggered some Canadians and US's nerve. Good job, China!

This was his second serious drug offense. He was sentenced in Canada in 2012 for drug trafficking and served 2 years. The judge told him back in 2012 that he was a very lucky man to be living in Canada with this serious charge. Unfortunately he didn’t learn his lesson.

The death penalty is truly a test water who stands behind drug. This guy is lucky enough to be Canadian so he can be on the news and gains 15-second attention of the media. Does being Canadian simply make his crime go away? Any sympathy with a 220-kg drug dealer is just as evil

Time for expulsions.

facist country

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to move all of our manufacturing capabilities over to China and give them all of our IP in the process? Now that westerners are being arrested, used as political pawns, and condemned will execs think twice about moving operations there?

good job beautifying drug dealers,“drug trafficking”?WOW

It's really irresponsible to immediately tie this to Huawei, particularly given how basic your leadership is. But I guess WaPo gonna WaPo

Did anyone seriously not expect this type of fallout from the Huawei stunt?

Don't have and mercy and tolerance to those drug smugglers.

Boycott China.

This may forever rule out China as a travel destination for this Canadian. They can change rulings for political purposes which means no one is safe in their dictatorship. Good thing there is so much to see in the world. Too bad so few countries are supporting us.

Rapid response diplomacy. I like it.

China demands US drop Huawei extradition request with CanadaBEIJING (AP) — China on Tuesday demanded the U.S. drop a request that Canada extradite a top executive of the tech giant Huawei, shifting blame to Washington in a case that has severely damaged Beijing's relations with Ottawa. Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Meng Wanzhou's case was out of the ordinary and Canada's extradition treaty with the U.S. infringed on the 'safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.' Hua said China demands that the U.S. withdraw the arrest warrant against Meng and 'not make a formal extradition request to the Canadian side.' And this is how WW3 starts. Cool. What a timeline to exist in. Someone really wants their spy back... It says a lot about our current situation....China demands? Jesus I wish we had a woman president.
