that Robert McDonald, 49, pleaded guilty to first-degree stalking. As part of his plea deal, he will serve one year of probation and is not allowed to contact the woman he stalked.
According to court records, McDonald had a brief relationship with a woman in the spring of 2016, and after it ended he harassed her with hundreds of phone calls, made unannounced visits and repeatedly drove past her house to yell obscenities at her and her family. The harassment allegedly continued through 2019.
The woman testified that she had dated McDonald for a period of about two months, and filed a complaint with the police department’s Internal Affairs Division in March of 2018, providing them with voice and text messages McDonald left her. She later withdrew the complaint out of fear for her and her family’s safety, but filed a second complaint when the harassment continued. The second complaint reportedly prompted no disciplinary action against McDonald.
In May of 2019, McDonald filed a third complaint, and police set up surveillance near the woman’s house, and observed McDonald driving past repeatedly. They then recommended criminal charges to the district attorney’s office. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
