It’s been a standing tradition that every week, the members of the St. Joseph’s women’s basketball program head out as a team to try different flavors of cookies at a nearby Crumbl Cookies bake shop.It was also around this time last year that the team began to show flashes of coming around as a true competitor in a competitive Atlantic 10 conference.
That buy-in and momentum have been on full display for the Hawks team that enters the A-10 tournament as the No. 6 seed with a 9-7 conference record .St. Joe’s has made major strides forward on both ends of the floor this season. They are scoring nearly 10 more points per game than they did last season, and are second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio.“We have five people on the floor that can shoot the three pretty much for 40 minutes,” said Griffin.
From Jan. 14 to Feb. 1, the Hawks lost 6 of 7 games, none by more than six. According to Brugler, this season’s A-10 Rookie of the Year, despite the challenges of that rough patch, the team never lost their confidence.
