Karabo Phungula failed to appear in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court, sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court, for his sentencing on Wednesday.
Phungula, the founder of Hi-Pixel Communications, was convicted in October last year. On 14 February, he failed to appear in court for sentencing, citing ill health. However, he failed to appear in court again on Wednesday. Matabane had spoken to him telephonically about his client's whereabouts, but he informed the prosecutor that Phungula had said that"he won't be coming to court".As a result, Phungula's R3 000 bail was forfeited to the State.
