Ghislaine Maxwell says a federal appeals court should reverse her conviction on charges that she joined and enabled the sexual abuse that Jeffrey Epstein committed on scores of teenagers and young women

FILE - Audrey Strauss, acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, points to a photo of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell during a news conference, in New York on July 2, 2020. Maxwell says a federal appeals court should reverse her conviction on charges that she joined and enabled the sexual abuse that Epstein committed on scores of teenagers and young women. The arguments her lawyers submitted Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, to the 2nd U.S.

Her lawyers had unsuccessfully argued previously that Maxwell became a scapegoat for prosecutors desperate for someone to blame after Epstein committed suicide in a federal prison cell in August 2019 as he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges. Lawyers for Maxwell, a once privileged daughter of a shipping magnate, said in court papers that prosecutors never should have been able to press their case against her because a deal Epstein reached in September 2007 with federal prosecutors in Florida protected not only himself from prosecution but “any potential coconspirators.”

Ghislaine Maxwell to ask appeals court to throw out sex trafficking convictionGhislaine Maxwell is expected on Tuesday to ask a U.S. appeals court to throw out her conviction for helping Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls, saying a slew of errors marred the case as prosecutors made her a scapegoat because the financier was dead. 'The government prosecuted Ms. Maxwell as a proxy for Jeffrey Epstein' to satisfy 'public outrage' over the case, and worked with his accusers 'to develop new allegations out of faded, distorted, and motivated memories,' Maxwell lawyer Arthur Aidala said in a statement obtained by Reuters. A spokesman for U.S. Attorney Damian Williams in Manhattan declined to comment. Maxwell is guilty and needs to name the other guilty people she helped in this sick crime what she needs to challenge is the client list being sealed... name the frikken clients... that used her services.- funny how the 'criminal' is required by the courts to not implicate those who actually committed the crimes because those who did commit the crimes are politicians
