The Alaska Supreme Court lowered the minimum score needed to pass the state bar exam, putting Alaska in line with most other states that use the same testing format, as public agencies struggle recruiting attorneys for key jobs.

The Alaska Supreme Court issued an order on Monday lowering the minimum score needed to pass the bar exam and practice law as an attorney in the state, following ato address difficulty in recruiting and retaining attorneys in the state.

“But we are hopeful that we’re going to have a great deal more availability of people who want to come practice in Alaska, and who are now qualified to practice in Alaska,” said Wildland. “So immediately, we’re going to see a positive increase there just by virtue of the change,” said Kemp.In the recruitment process, Kemp said applicants regularly commented on the high bar score requirement.

Lower the bar? Well that instills alot of confidence in the system.

Woooo is was high..... seem was kept low with all the law issues Alaska has.

Lowering the bar..... great. Quality can only go up from here.

What’s next, ignoring law & order?!!!

As someone who 'failed' the Alaska bar by getting a 279 in 2017,then 297 the next test that year, this makes me both bitter and happy its finally fixed.

Attorneys gonna start advertising as pre and post patch lol

dbchirpy IF you need an attorney better ask them their bar score.

🤣😂🤣😂

the Alaska bar exam was tougher than the NY bar exam. I know. I've passed both. it used to be something of which I was proud.

We're answering the biggest questions about the case, including how it wound up at the Supreme Court. Congress allocates tax dollars. Not the executive branch. Not a hard concept. Was he lying 🤥 We need a 4th branch of government- a consortium to represent the American people bc the other 3 and the states forgot about us during a major pandemic, a financial and homelessness crisis, to further their own political agendas.
