Gamblers across the state spent $1.1 billion on sports betting in January — the first month sports gambling was legal in Ohio.

The more than a billion in bets resulted in more than $208.9 million in revenue for sportsbooks across the Buckeye state, according to figures released by theSports betting ads broke state law. What can Ohio do to stop it from happening again?Sports bets placed online made up the bulk of wagers, with $1.09 billion in bets made online in January, according to the commission.

Kiosks that offer sports gambling are overseen by the Ohio Lottery. Ohioans placed $850,336 at kiosks, resulting in $116,040 in total revenue in January,

If all the gamblers took half of what they bet and sent it to East Palestine, those folks would have $550MM to clean up and recover. I’d wager that would feel a lot better than gambling too.
