NEW: Biden to nominate Julie Su to head Labor Department

Julie Su testifies during her Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee confirmation hearing on March 16, 2021. Photo: Tom Williams/CQ-Roll Call, Inc via Getty ImagesWhy it matters:

If confirmed, Su, a longtime advocate for workers' rights, will replace Marty Walsh as labor secretary, making her the first cabinet-level secretary of Asian American heritage in the Biden administration. Asian American lawmakers and advocates, who initially pushed for Biden to nominate Su after his election in 2020, had renewed their calls in recent weeks. Biden's Cabinet was the first in 20 years without a secretary of Asian American or Pacific Island descent.

Let’s hope her first priority is addressing child labor laws and enforcement.

What are her qualifications? Report implies she was only offered the position because of her race and because President Biden was checking off a race-driven appointment list? Media causing race focus instead of merit again?

Checking off alllllll the boxes yet again, too much to ask for qualified appointments in 2023. Amazing that he thinks this is what he will be remembered for when it will be the re-implemented racist, sexist policies history

AND she will make sure that nothing is done ab exploiting migrant children workers due to border crisis. 'Nery Cutzal was 13... he discovered that he owed more than $4,000... “Don’t mess with me,” the sponsor wrote. “You don’t mean anything to me.

She did an amazing job in CA. 🙄

Why is BarackObama nominating her?
