A man has appeared in court charged with murder after a woman was found dead by the emergency services at a home in Hamilton.
Walter Buchanan made no plea during the private hearing at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, February 27, after being arrested by police. The 64-year-old, from Hamilton, was remanded in custody and is expected to reappear within the next eight days. The case was committed for further examination by prosecutors, reports the Daily Record.Buchanan was arrested by police after emergency services were called to an address in Hamilton Park North at around 8.10am on Saturday, February 18.A heavy police presence in the area was reported by locals with police "knocking on doors all week".
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 64-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a woman at an address on Hamilton Park North, Hamilton on Saturday, 18 February 2023. "He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, 27 February, 2023.
