“It pains me to see Waspi raising women’s hopes yet again, and worse, soliciting money from them that they can ill afford to fund – what looks to me like – a hopeless case.
Ms Coppola added: “There is another reason why I believe compensation for Waspi women is the wrong solution. Angela Madden, chair of Waspi, said: “With the support of hundreds of thousands of women, our campaign has made significant progress over the seven years we have been going, but it’s a hard slog.
She added: “We do believe this legal action is our best chance of securing justice, and with small sums from those affected – and their families – we hope to reach our target, and get the outcome Waspi women so desperately want and clearly deserve.”
