The study found 39 per cent of employees were less stressed after the four-day working week trial, while 71 per cent had reduced levels of burnout at the end of the trial.“Likewise, levels of anxiety, fatigue and sleep issues decreased, while mental and physical health both improved,” it reads.
Joe O’Connor, the director and co-founder of the Toronto-based Work Time Reduction Center of Excellence, said the idea of a four-day working week is not only about changing the number of hours that people work, but also about changing the way that people work. “They also attack wasteful processes and low value-adding activities like overlong and unnecessary meetings like distractions in the workday or use of technologyO’Connor added that the four-day working week has proven to motivate employees to meet the targets of the company.Story continues below advertisement
In addition, 24 companies that were able to provide data saw an increase of 35 per cent in revenue when compared with the same six-month period in 2021.O’Connor said there has been growing interest in Canadian companies to move toward shorter work weeks over the past years.“This is a growing global movement, and we think there’s a real opportunity for Canada to be right at the forefront of that movement,” O’Connor said.
Who cares, this country is fucked under JustinTrudeau
Why are all the people in your ad wearing poisonous masks?
With the costs of living I can’t see 4 days are enough unless you get paid for 40 hrs per week
This is what I do, mon-Thurs, it’s great, longer work days but more time off.
4 days a week will make you a shift worker reducing your overtime pay and you will work the weekend on straight time. You will work Monday to Thursday then next shift will work Tues to Sat and so on. Save company money and you make less money.
YES!!!!!
for full time employees, yeah. that includes all federal, provincial and municipal employees. they are already doing less work as it is . this is so dumb idea.
Ya work 45 to 50 hours over four days instead of five. Sounds great.
No
4 day work weeks are probably the best for employees morale, health. Most companies at the yyz airport have had it for years. And yes shift are longer but you get the 4 days off
If Canadians want 4-day work weeks they will need to accept a price inflation rate of 25% across the board - if this is acceptable and allows Canadian goods to still be competitive - so be it.
Ya sure we can't afford food or rent in toronto lol
Yes. Why is it even a question?
Absolutely
There are no labour laws mandating the minimum number of days you can work
And companies are forcing WFH workers back to office...
Yes
Why not? But be prepared for longer hours or less pay. There’s always a trade off
Remember the brew ahhh ha when they allowed shopping on Sundays ?
The push for Socialism and UBI
I'm going to have a 0 day work week in a couple months, so I could care less. 😁
Yes, it improves well-being and boosts productivity! 👍🏾
This is just a way to get you to work 12 hours regularly and then they will switch back to 5 days, 12 hours a day.
Absolutely
Likely 10hr day with 4 work days in a week. Pay remains the same and ppl get an extra day off to spend with family.
No thanks we don’t want to work 12 hour days and lose our overtime. If you paid us a livable wage with 4x 8 hour work days then we can talk
Sat on hold with Manitoba Hydro as I needed to speak with a representative, I finally hung up after 1 hour 53 mins, I am sure that will improve the wait time.
Ah yes, how lazy ass Canucks can be even more lazy and useless.
No.
As long as it is based on monthly salary and not hourly wage. Would be based on 32 hour work week - max
Did 4 day work weeks for many years but were 12 hours each not sure if it was a life changing experience lol
Sure, adjust the pay to reflect the hours put in.
Yes they should! Stop talking about it and actually do it!
I’m trying to get the boss to do this!
