A strong argument can be made that each of them either lied or made materially misleading statements., joined by Justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue,have enflamed debate and deepened division.

As any seasoned lawyer can attest, the phrase"egregiously wrong" when used by a justice in the normally dignified context of appellate litigation is the equivalent of a verbal smackdown. It's meant as an insult and a sign of contempt.
