The decision opened the door to a wave of legal challenges from gun-rights activists who saw an opportunity to undo laws on everything from age limits to AR-15-style semi-automatic weapons.

Gun control activists have decried the Supreme Court’s historical test, but say they remain confident that many gun restrictions will survive challenges. Since the decision, for example, judges have consistently upheld the federal ban on convicted felons from possessing guns.

The Supreme Court’s test has raised questions about whether judges are suited to be poring over history and whether it makes sense to judge modern laws based on regulations — or a lack thereof— from the past. Some judges are "really parsing the history very closely and saying ‘these laws aren’t analogous because the historical law worked in a slightly different fashion than the modern law’," said Andrew Willinger, executive director of the Duke Center for Firearms Law.

This is so blatantly ignorant. I wonder how much money the NRA is paying these judges…. Amendments have been added to the constitution on a number of other issues because there was a realization that times change and updates are needed. This is no different.

It's on ongoing fight. Give an inch and left will take a mile. Just like taxes, social programs, etc.

Making me pay for guns is infringement on my rights. Give me free nukes.

Abolish them all!

good

The 2nd Amendment isn't the 2nd Suggestion.

Any gun law passed violates the Second Amendment and is unconstitutional.

If anti-gun groups and Democrat politicians didn’t push ineffective restrictions on law abiding citizens, this wouldn’t be an issue. Since when did criminals follow the law? Laws that constrain constitutionally protected rights will be challenged.

Unfortunately, I think the SCOTUS can't review things until they are actually placed before them by someone with standing, etc.

It's almost as if all gun laws are unconstitutional.

...show it is consistent with the country’s 'historical tradition of firearm regulation.' Okay lets check what 2A author Madison thought of the gun nuts... see next tweet

Good

Oh you mean the god given right to bear arms? The one protected by the 2nd amendment?

It’s not the guns! It’s the people!🤦‍♀️mental health and consequences!

SHALL. NOT. BE. INFRINGED. I don't understand why this is so hard for the left to understand.

Lower courts in turmoil because liberal progressive activist judges know they’ve been interpreting the laws incorrectly. And allowing unconstitutional laws stand while taxpayer money fighting both to uphold and defeat the law.

Never Vote for rEPUBLICANS! ☝🏿🧐🇺🇸

'SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED '

You mean 'removed illegal laws that infringed upon civil rights of Americans'.

Looks like a victory for the Second Amendment. More guns! Bruin reaffirmed Heller. There’s LESS confusion, actually. 🤡
