KOTA KINABALU: Prosecutors in preacher Ebit Lew's ongoing sexual harassment case are expected to call a new witness to the stand when the trial resumes on Tuesday (Feb 7).

However, particulars of the sixth prosecution witness have not been revealed yet, Bahasa Malaysia portal Sinar Harian reported on Monday .The trial will continue for four days, from Tuesday to Friday , at the Tenom Magistrate's Court before Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani.

The prosecution initially called five witnesses, including preacher Firdaus Wong, 39, and two police officers. Ebit, 37, whose real name is Ebit Irawan Ibrahim, faces 11 charges including insulting the modesty of a woman in her 40s by sending obscene words and pictures to the victim's phone number via WhatsApp between March and June last year.The charge is under Section 509 of the Penal Code for intent to insult a woman's modesty, which carries a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment or a fine or both, upon conviction.

Ebit is represented by lawyers Ram Singh, Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki and Timothy Daut while the prosecution team comprises DPPs Nor Azizah Mohamad, Muhammad Ilmami Ahmad, Zahida Zakaria, Adibah Saiful Bahri and Nur Masrin Amalia.
