Federal law enforcement authorities searched President Joe Biden’s Washington think tank in the weeks after the president’s attorneys reported finding classified documents there on Nov. 2.

The FBI’s search was conducted with the cooperation of Biden’s team and did not require a warrant, two sources told CBS News. The outlet said it was not clear whether the agency found additional documents.Neither Biden’s attorneys nor the Justice Department previously disclosed the FBI’s search of the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, the president’s previously little-known think tank in Washington, D.C.

Yet when the FBI searched Biden’s Delaware home on Jan. 20, Biden’s personal attorney Bob Bauer announced it the next day. Attorneys for Biden have reported finding about 25 to 30 classified files after searching the president’s homes and offices.Additional batches of secret materials were located at Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware, home, prompting the Justice Department to appoint a special counsel to investigate the president’s possible mishandling of classified information while out of office.

The Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement has come under scrutiny as House Republicans press for visitor logs and details of its operations and funding.
