The report contradicts previous claims, including from Human Rights Watch, that Ukraine has only used anti-vehicle mines since Russia invaded in February 2022. Those types of mines are generally permissible under the laws of war.
Human Rights Watch conducted interviews with several civilian eyewitnesses and Ukrainian emergency workers around the eastern city of Izium shortly after Ukrainian forces liberated the area from Russian control in September 2022. Researchers documented 11 cases of civilians injured by petal mines over the course of five months, including one man who eventually died. The report says the mines consistently fell near known Russian positions, suggesting they were the intended targets.
"You find that children would like to play with them, think that they are not posing a danger, and that's just not the case," said Goose.
Sorry, but returning 'fire' on invaders attacking you is not a some morals violation. It's self-preservation.
Are they perchance Russian land-mines?
Then let’s stop escalating the war and bring them to the negotiating table. I guess Lockheed Martin might not like that so it won’t happen.
Substantiated occurrances of murder, torture and mass executions of civillians in Ukraine by Russia Soldiers and this is your story? Shame on
It’s Ukrainian territory, Ukrainians can do what they want with it.
Remember, Ukraine wouldn't have even considered using land mines if they hadn't been illegally invaded by Putin's evil regime.
Who cares? Russia deserves to be covered in landmines.

So?
Ukraine forces firing landmines in Russian territory so now landmines can be fired from a weapon I thought they had to be planted on the ground
all is fair in love and war.
“Russia has used these weapons in even greater numbers than Ukraine in a much more widespread fashion in different parts of the country” and yet the headline is about Ukraine
Human Rights Watch should call put russias use of IEDs, landmines and other explosives placed locations to kill civlians, including in places children would open up or places where maximum casualities could happen in occupied areas.
If some other country was invading the U.S I expect that we would use any means necessary to deter that invasion
Beautiful Boomerang effect
Wake up NPR PutinWarCriminal RussianWarCrimesInUkraine RussianArmy PedoPutin who is behind the desk at NPR? What a disgrace.
NPR is publishing Russian Propaganda about battlefield struggles between the armoes. Meanwhile, Russian Soldiers are torturing, raping, kidnapping citizens, including children.
“Firing landmines” ?
The same Human Rights watch that thought it's appropriate to pretend Crimea is Russian territory?
It's not hard to find any of the 100s of articles written by msm calling Ukraine a corrupt nazi country. It wasn't until Biden's war in Ukraine that deep state and progressives started to show support for their nazi brethren
Is 'territory that was controlled at the time by Russia' just a fancy way to say 'Ukrainian territory occupied by Russians?'
So stolen Ukrainian land?
