A son told a court how he found his mother's body after it is claimed she was murdered by his father.
Stephen Maher was with one of his brothers when they discovered Jeanna Maher in her bedroom, which had been left like "a bombsite". Stephen recalled the 51-year-old Asda worker had a serious head injury with her hands and feet tied up. The 35 year-old tried giving his mum CPR, but she had already passed away.He was giving evidence yesterday at the trial of his dad Peter Maher at the High Court in Glasgow.The allegation includes claims Maher repeatedly struck his wife with a mallet or similar item.
Heating engineer Stephen told how he had finished work that night and he met younger brother Richard to each cycle back home.Prosecutor Steven Borthwick KC asked the witness: "How did he seem to you?"Stephen said he went upstairs to run a bath and saw the door to his parents' room ajar.Stephen said this was unusual as the house was generally tidy.
