Enrile won’t recognize ICC jurisdiction, wants drug war probers arrested if they come to PH

The chief presidential legal counsel issued the remarks after the ICC pre-trial chamber granted its prosecutor’s request to The ICC said it is “not satisfied that the Philippines is undertaking relevant investigations that would warrant a deferral of the Court’s investigations based on the complementarity principle.”It added that the Philippine government’s efforts to probe the drug war deaths “do not amount to tangible, concrete and progressive investigative steps” that sufficiently mirror the ICC investigation.

I don’t know if some people can frighten ICC but I hope not. Our politicians conveniently use “sovereignty” in issues like this but disregard it with our disagreements with China on the West Philippine Sea.

While Enrile expediently plays the nationalist card with the ICC, he personally has much to conceal behind that card. During martial law Enrile was responsible for numerous human rights violations, not to mention corruption resulting from his doing Marcos’s bidding.
