Sheldon Hibbs will be tried in Newfoundland and Labrador Supreme Court by judge and jury at a later date. He is set to be arraigned there on Feb. 1. Hibbs is charged in the 2021 death of 68-year-old Michael King in the Waterford Valley area of St. John’s. Police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Hibbs, 27, in February 2022, and he was arrested in Calgary a month later and flown back to St. John’s, where he has been in custody ever since.
