One week ago, Philadelphia mayoral candidate Jeff Brown told voters in West Philadelphia that he’d oppose increasing the nearly $800 million Police Department budget, saying: “We have enough money in the police budget.”
In a statement Thursday, Brown’s campaign spokesperson clarified that he believes the department is “adequately funded” and walked back his comments on the driving-equality law, saying Brown has concerns about elements of it but did not intend to say he would push to repeal the entire law.Still, the rhetoric represented a shift in tone for Brown, who has generally positioned himself as bullish on criminal-justice reform.
Jeff Brown alluded to Krasner’s popularity Tuesday, telling the group his own polling showed a majority of likely voters would cast their vote for Krasner again.
The past 50 years of policing policy in Philadelphia and the rest of the country clearly show us that 'more police' is not effective crime prevention strategy, but don't let that get in the way, I guess.
Definitely doesn't get my vote...
People are being advised to put steering wheel locks in their cars since there have been over 1300 vehicles thefts and its not even February. Sounds like all this progressivism is moving us backwards
Got my vote! My next mayor needs to be anti-krasner and be in the market for a new Police commissioner. Results are what they are. Crime has sky-rocketed during the Krasner Outlaw years. & that’s just the facts!
Governing a city ain’t like running some supermarkets.
The Dems will sabotage him somehow.
Welp, he ain't gonna win.
