A prominent Ontario defence lawyer who has spent plenty of time in bail court explains how the system really works

Premiers from all 13 provinces and territories signed the letter sent to Trudeau on Friday, writing that the time for action is now and "our heroic first responders cannot wait." Ontario defence lawyer Alison Craig — who has spent plenty of time in bail court — was a recent guest on "Inside the Village," a podcast produced by Village Media. She offered some important perspective on how the bail system works, why certain suspects are released from jail pending trial, and how the system can be improved.
