A former leader of a drug smuggling ring is back in prison after he launched a 'nasty' attack on a married couple in a Nottinghamshire pub

A former leader of a £2million drug smuggling ring is back in prison after he launched a “nasty and unprovoked” attack on a married couple. Nottingham Crown Court heard a woman became uncomfortable when Jonathan Quinn, aged 62, repeatedly looked at her from the next table at a pub in High Street, East Markham.

Quinn was jailed in 2005 for conspiracy to supply class A drugs and was released on licence in 2017, having served half of a 21-year prison sentence. That licence was revoked last year and he was returned to prison following his arrest for the violent attack on the husband and wife. Detective Constable Lauren Carter, who investigated the pub assaults, said: “This was a particularly nasty and unprovoked attack on a husband and wife who were out enjoying an evening with friends.
