Despite having both trip interruption and emergency COVID-19 coverage, an Ontario man's insurance claim was denied after he tested positive while vacationing in Antigua. Why? The company says he wasn't sick enough to qualify.

Manulife and sunlife are 2 worst insurance companies here

Thems the risks of travel. I side with the insurance company.

Need to fact check vs pump out crap.

A previous tweet with this story said the man had both trip interruption and cancellation insurance. In fact, he only had cancellation insurance. That tweet has been deleted.

Not surprising the insurance denial now that you can get on a plane with Covid and fly home

Who would expect this? Traveltips, who knew that insurance wouldn't cover every COVID instance?

Our world is different now. Expect to be screwed over all the time not some of the time.

This is how it will be with private health care - insurance companies dictating what gets covered and not

My sister works for an Insurance company and not only does she get terrible coverage the pay is minimum wage.

What’s next…., life insurance being denied because your not dead enough 🤷🏻‍♂️

Insurance companies do 2 things well. 1. TV commercials 2. Screwing clients in the ass.

Some insurance companies were offering coverage only if the person who tested positive needed medical attention or hospitalized. If not there was no compensation for isolation and flight rebooking costs. From my understanding Manlife was the only company to insure isolation costs

If he identified with covid, only a bigot would deny his self truth

If it was SunwingVacay that denied his flight home because of the +ve Covid test, then there shouldn’t have been issue with the claim. JS

Many years ago my husband was on sick leave from a major airline. Manulife was the insurer. The company AND the union had to force Manulife to pay his benefits. They are despicable

Travelling during a deadly pandemic. I don’t care for this man or the insurance company. 🤷‍♂️

Interesting. He had no medical diagnosis. Therefore, he didn’t actually have Covid. Should have gone to a clinic after routine testing to get a doctor’s diagnosis.

Sell your soul to the devil and you don't get refunds. Hope the trip was worth it....

Airline insurance is a scam. Chubb insurance (Swoop) screwed me out of a bunch of money and flight

So some desk/paper pusher decides whose sick enough to qualify for coverage… 🤦‍♂️

Insurance industry is the biggest scam on the planet. Gross.

We are self employed and have private health insurance thru Costco which is with Manulife. They are AWFUL to deal with. Manulife another shameful denial

Gee sounds like LTD insurance companies in Canada. 🤣🤣

the Insurance company needs to re-word their policy description then. That man believed he was covered enough to get his money back. Sounds like they think he was scamming. And, that's possible.

Insurance Companies are the bottom feeders of Society..

It’s about the small print.

There is Covid coverage

They also not paying if you die from the jab.. better re read you policy

It’s the gamble you take to fly.
