Second legal challenge launched opposing UK's first major coal mine in over 40 years

Opponents of the mine have staged protests calling for a rethink of the government's decision

The Woodhouse Colliery scheme is expected to extract millions of tonnes of coking coal for steel production. "Our claim sets out the errors in law, the failure to give intelligible reasons and the disparity of treatment between the parties that Gove employed to arrive at this contradictory conclusion."The mine is set to open on the site of the former Marchon chemical works on the outskirts of Whitehaven

But Thatcher saved it for us in times like this 😉

Compared with the Germans, Indians and the chinese this is nothing

Laughable hypocrisy..the coal required by industry for steel..will otherwise come from Australia..are these people going to provide alternative jobs that this will provide and the investment in the local economy No .they would rather it came from Oz..carbon footprint on that?
