Australian law firms have joined forces to run a landmark data breach complaint against private health insurer Medibank after data from millions of customers was released on the dark web in October.
The three law firms have been investigating compensation claims and say they have already registered tens of thousands of Medibank customers. Under the firms' co-operation agreement, they will now pursue the OAIC complaint seeking compensation for those affected by the data breach. "We believe the data breach is a betrayal of Medibank Private's customers and a breach of the Privacy Act. Medibank has a duty to keep this kind of information confidential," Mr Bannister said.
Good, AHM just put their premiums up- a couple of weeks after their last email about the hack, what a berloody cheek, and deserving of a good lawsuit.
And it is disgusting that their Directors received bonuses after the data breach
Nobody is happy about the breach, but other than the vulture law firms who genuinely feels we should be compensated for the breach?
I'm due another class action
Businesses will get away and ultimately customers suffers. Not fair! What happened to optus. What is the update?
