The government has been dragging its feet on ValeriesLaw. We will continue to push for all demands to be implemented, to eradicate the unequal treatment black women who suffer who report domestic / sexual abuse.

A HISTORICAL debate calling for the safeguarding of black women who are victims of domestic and sexual violence to be brought into law could now be added to current legislation.

She spoke of the recent damning incidents that have tarnished trust in the Met following the uproar around Child Q – 15-year-old black girl who was strip-searched by police officers while menstruating. “The trust that black people — and perhaps especially black women — have in the police has been repeatedly damaged in recent months,” she said.
