Human Rights Watch highlights more Indigenous Australians died in custody last year than in 2021, and that new laws targeting climate protesters resulted in harsher penalties against activists.

The federal government said it was working closely with states and territories on increasing the minimum age of criminal responsibility, and that action in the Northern Territory was evidence of progress being made.

The organisation said new laws targeting climate protesters in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania had resulted in harsh penalties."Human Rights Watch spends a lot of time in Asia, speaking to authoritarian governments who are jailing peaceful activists … and then, suddenly, I've got a situation in Australia where our government is sending peaceful activists to jail too," she said.

It said China continued to repress the Uyghur ethnic minority in Xinjiang, restricted freedom in Tibet and had imposed strict COVID-zero policies that forced millions into lockdown.

An investigation is needed to compare the benefits aboriginals get over other Australians and how this has ironically crippled their communities with blame, apathy and crime. There is now a call amongst their own to HTFU and get on with it, not more bloody benefits and coddling.

But Australian government and ABC will happy point finger at Russia and China

Rubbish.

Melbourne the shrine of remembrance 2021 free people peacefully protesting there human rights of free choice get shot with rubber bullets women and children

This is a typical example of 'our' ABC pushing a narrative rather than just reporting the facts. Aboriginal Australians are less likely to die in custody than non-Aboriginal Australians, but that fact goes against the narrative and is therefore ignored. I want to unsubscribe.

Hey abc how about freedom protesters human rights? Or are we below climate changers? Or maybe just maybe your pushing one of your agenda's

No aircon in a prison?! Oh the humanity!

A YES vote for the Voice will have a profound effect on improving Australia's reputation overseas. Correspondingly, a damaging NO vote for the Voice will relegate Australia to the same level as Brexit Britain.

Notice there's no mention of heavyhanded policing during covid lockdowns. I guess everything's political.

Lidia Thorpe would not have any idea where Roebourne is let alone ever been there. Sheltered lives the lot of you. You have no idea.

Not that surprising when you create a police state and deny the people their right to defend themselves.

Cops

Our media like to refer to reports from the US.

Couldn't agree more. Covid made that blatantly clear. I mean it should have been before but it had never affected as many people before

Well, if they’re saying it’s ‘deeply’ embarrassing then I really must take some notice then I suppose

Anything on lockdowns, lockouts, coercion of drugs, vaxx deaths and injuries, police shooting citizens ABC? Tell them to get stuffed.🧐🖕

so what? at least we have total control of our borders Now we have millions of economic refugees They all want a better life Look at the US borders they get 80k/month Last year they got 2mils It is like German Syrian invasion Even on wheelchair

And yet you supported the dictators human rights abuses in his segregated society!! you are a bunch of farken hypocritical w⚓️‘s

If we keep this up, we'll be as bad as Dumberica...!!!

this is terrible to see what kind of society treats its treasured citizens this way?!

What does the Federal leader of the opposition have to say about this?

Most so-called 'deaths in custody' result from self-inflicted health problems, attempts to flea or escape custody, and suicide. It is possible to review all of the case material and coroners reports yourself.

ABC self loathing at it's finest
