The Special Criminal Court trial of Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch for the murder of Kinahan cartel associate David Byrne in Dublin’s Regency Hotel was due to get back under way on Wednesday following the Christmas break. Healyhack

The resumption of the Hutch trial got off to a “false start” this week after a “curious development” emerged overnight.

READ MORE: What to expect next in Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch trial as it resumes after 10 weeks of twists and turns He said the document primarily concerned Mr Hutch, and added that “that isn’t the cause of the delay but the matter has been looked into.” The court heard there was a legal issue that had arisen with CCTV in the case, but that the officer needed for that was not available.

"I will have some limited cross-examination to elicit various matters which Jonathan Dowdall said about two specific issues. We will be endeavouring to deal with those in the most compact manner possible," he said.

And who would you appeal to? The supreme court? I understand the need to protect witnesses and juries from intimidation and harm, but there is something dodgy about using these type of courts.
