With a relatively new mayor at Cleveland City Hall in Justin Bibb, Ronayne also has an opportunity to lead in a more collaborative, forward-looking and innovative way to deal with overlapping educational, economic development and equity challenges. Leading the list: the future of a dysfunctional, aging Justice Center in the heart of downtown and its Problem A, a County Jail that does not adhere to modern standards for efficiency and safety, which makes it more expensive and difficult to run safely. The county has been talking about the need for a new jail for years. Surprise. It hasn’t happened.
