A Trump administration ban on bump stocks — devices that enable the rapid firing of multiple rounds from semi-automatic weapons after a trigger pull — was struck down by a federal appeals court. The ban came after the Las Vegas mass shooting in 2017.

A Trump administration ban on bump stocks — devices that enable a shooter to rapidly fire multiple rounds from semi-automatic weapons after an initial trigger pull — was struck down Friday by a federal appeals court in New Orleans.

It’s a firearm issue that involves not the Second Amendment but the interpretation of federal statutes. Opponents of the ban argued that bump stocks do not fall under the definition of illegal machine guns in federal law. The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says they do, a position now being defended by the Biden administration.

Bump stocks harness the recoil energy of a semiautomatic firearm so that a trigger “resets and continues firing without additional physical manipulation of the trigger by the shooter,” according to the ATF. A shooter must maintain constant forward pressure on the weapon with the non-shooting hand, and constant pressure on the trigger with the trigger finger, according to court records.

Disappointing gunsense

lack of sensible gun laws have created a wild west mentality in America

Along with his take the guns first, due process later position, why did/do his followers think he's pro 2A?

The bullet was invented 50 years after the 2nd amendment was signed.

What ever came of that investigation? Were any findings ever released? Does anything make any sense?

It does NOT make an automatic weapon ! More clueless legislation that accomplishes nothing !

Does that really look like a good idea?

Clearly designed to bypass the intent of other laws. No brainer and justified ban.

When are journalist going to actually look Into the FBI involvement in that massacre?

Question? When will there be a ban on sending weapons of war and heavy artillery to other countries? Because, it is extraordinarily telling of the hypocrisy of such actions. Thank you.

Lss Vegas Shooting. Done by one tired old white guy with zero motive. Right. iheartmindy has an excellent investigative documentary for anybody interested.

Because the ATF doesn't get to arbitrarily call pieces of plastic machine guns. If thats what our government wants then congress needs to ban it, not the ATF they don't have that power.

It doesn't do that. You still need to pull the trigger for each shot. Stop lying about it
