In an email, Dan McLaughlin, communications counsel for the B.C. Prosecution Service, said he could confirm that the jury trial will not commence Jan. 16. The Ali case has gone far beyond the Supreme Court of Canada’s 30-month ceiling for cases to be tried in the superior courts, but it’s not known whether a defence application for a stay of proceedings on the basis of unreasonable trial delay will be filed.
Lowe said that trial delay is a subject that comes up for families in their homicide grief support groups and leaves them feeling angry, helpless, frustrated, unrepresented and suffering.

Its another example of the justice system being a cesspool of incompetence. Who cares about the victim’s families. As long as the lawyers and judges are financially taken care of.
