When's the law banning black on black murders going to be passed? There were 7881 of them in 2016, and nary a single lynching.

OginoJan Note: the passing of a law is merely the first step in addressing systemic issues born of white supremacy. The passage of the 14th amendment by force in 1868 did not provide equal citizenship to black & other poc & immigrants of color. It triggered a war.

If America really wanted it gone then it would have been a crime many years ago.

Now that ropes have gone out of style the idiots in Washington pass a anti-lynching law, like a mob of vigilantes are going to be worried about breaking it if they decide to string someone up. How stupid can these fools be.

Why is bestiality legal in some places? Leave the history lessons to the museums.

TLDR: America is still super-racist.

When was the last legal lynching?

Well, your everyday lynchings America, have stopped anyway, so your politicians are just trying to gain some black votes by expunging the old lynching law. That's all I see from the outside looking in.

No wonder Americans are keeping their eyes closed on India where Lynching to death is every day occurrence in the streets for touching a cow Disgusting

Because democrats were against it. Just like the civil rights act. However, they did like Jim Crowe laws.

Finally passing an anti-lynching Law is a good start, but how is it almost 2019 and we haven’t yet outlawed genocide?

Because liberals are avoiding actually doing anything? I watched the event on CSPAN. It was embarrassing. Harris and Booker practically drooling on each other.

Democrats didn’t want it would be my guess.

3 guesses, and the first two don't count. Don't worry, I'll wait...

Star Spangled Banner was “officially” adopted as America’s Anthem in 1931; a century after the war of 1812.

Because we STILL have a republican party...

Because that's how long it took society to devolve to passing redundant laws to determine punishment according to the dictates of identity politics.

Because Democrats wanted to keep their bullying loophole open as long as possible.

Answer: Democrats

“Recognition is not removal. It is a reckoning.” As a historian and a minority, these lines speaks the most to me, as it should others who question the importance of memory and public acknowledgement.

It just seems redundant. Its violence against another person. It was illegal to begin with

Forty-three hundred lynching’s alone, after the civil war That will explain, why only one conviction so far. Many went missing, no need to be confound More often than not, they were below ground. Witnessed by many whose silence abound White juries declared no crime was found.

Well... doesn't it already fall under the category of 'MURDER'?

Build the Wall. Stop the Drugs and human trafficking. My guess so many politicians on the take with Drug Cartels they can't back out. It's the only explanation for this craziness. Plus they just Hate Trump.

guillotine and catapult are next

Reminder: Democracy dies at WaPo.

Is it racism? I bet it’s racism.

So you guys are not blaming that on Trump?

tldr; America was, is, and always will be incredibly racist.

Now we just have mass incarceration.

It’s called Federalism

Has it been actually signed? And what exactly is their definition of lynching?

pesquisem linchamento em São Luis , Maranhão

Because...Republicans

Really? Are we really going to have an entire article to break it down?

Perspective: murder has always been illegal

We know why. Don’t need an article for this.

Because there are a lot of bigots out there who want to protect 'muh heritage,' which includes lynching people. Right, Confederates?

Because America is a racist nation, next?

Because Democrats and the KKK didn’t like the idea of blacks voting.

Where's Nancy Pelosi?
