The landmark court decision makes Barbados the third Easter-Caribbean nation to drop the discriminatory lawBARBADOS HAS stamped out colonial era-laws and made gay sex legal in a landmarking ruling.

It comes after Antigua and Barbuda and Saint Kitts and Nevis were the first Eastern-Caribbean countries to thrown out the discriminatory law which is considered to be an old-relic of British-colonial rule. Under Barbados’ Sexual Offences Act of 1992, it sanctioned “buggery” with up to life in jail and “serious indecency” with up to 10 years’ locked away which criminalised consensual same-sex relations.
