OPINION from columnist JohnArchibald: The city of Wetumpka 'spent a full day pointing the long arm of Wetumpka law directly at two ladies with the audacity to think they could humanely help solve a feral cat problem.' Read it:

This is an opinion column, and dribbles into satire. But it is based in fact.

It was trespass, after all. What could this woman possibly be doing on public land? She was surely up to no good. Their highly trained intuition paid off. For after they told her to leave they spotted her again in the same vicinity, a spot known for cats and buzzards, and people like her. It charged Alston with criminal trespassing when she returned to the scene after a warning, and disorderly conduct, a crime she apparently committed by wondering out loud if the police officers were as witless as they seemed. The accomplice, 85-year-old Beverly Roberts, had been found later, skulking about the driver’s seat of her own car. She was cuffed and derided as childish, charged with criminal trespassing and interfering with government operations.

JohnArchibald Wetumpka just lost all the goodwill they gained from being on Hometown Makeover. This is the type of behavior that leads people to believe the absolute worst of Alabama.

JohnArchibald FACT - Feral cats are not bad to eat if you add a pack of Lipton onion soup to the crock pot

JohnArchibald WetumpkaHerald WetumpkaWACC Citizens of Wentumpka need to speak up, speak out before its too late, your government has been weaponized against your freedoms. Who will stand up against government sponsored weakening of your community and its people.

JohnArchibald Wetumpka should be ashamed. I work in Wetumpka and have never seen a more ignorant group of people in my life. No empathy or compassion for Gods creatures or their citizens.

JohnArchibald Slow day in Wetumpka.

JohnArchibald I noticed in your rant there is nothing about these ladies were arrested for trespassing after being warned ⚠️ of a possible arrest the first time. Apply the law or don't. Why do you have a problem with that?

JohnArchibald Wouldn't it be terrible if Alabamians started spending weekends and off days catching, spaying, neutering, feeding and releasing cats in Wetumpka?

JohnArchibald cops gonna cop
